Looking Ahead

This year we will be making quite a few adjustments to our life style. We’ve already made a few and are on the fast track to becoming self sustainable. We have plotted a garden, have a small compost pile started, hung a clothes line in between a couple trees, installed a homemade wood burning stove, and purchased some solar panels just to name a few. This spring we’d like to acquire a dozen chickens, a goat, build their housing, expand our garden, set up a rain catching barrel from our gutters and work on a few other miscellaneous odds and ends. Now, I’m not sure with all the work we have to do to if we will be getting the chicken and goat by spring but that is ideal. That way we can work out any kinks we may run into throughout the summer and fall. Plus with the county fair in the summer I may be able to find a few local goat farmers looking to cut back their herd.

It's always a good idea to take a step back and make a plan, create a goal or at least have a basic idea of what you want to accomplish. Without that it's hard to know where to start and when to finish. It's also a good idea to take on one project at a time that way you don't wind up with a bunch of unfinished projects all over the place.

If we cannot envision the world we would like to live in, we cannot work towards its creation.  If we cannot place ourselves in it in our imagination, we will not believe it is possible.  - Chellis Glendinning
